2012-2013 schedule
I have no planning this year... shed a tear for me now.
third grade & fourth grade reading content - I pull a group of seven 3rd & 4th grade ELs. I am their main reading teacher for the year.
kindergarten writing and reading collab - I go into a kindergarten classroom for writing and reading. My K ELs are in this classroom, but I work with all the students.
first grade ELA and writing collab - I go into a first grade classroom to work on words, grammar, and writing. My EL firsties are in this classroom, but again, I work with all the students.
fifth grade writing collab - I go into a fifth grade classroom to work on writing. My ELs are all in this classroom, but I teach writing to all the students.
second grade writing content - I pull a group of eight 2nd graders. I am their main writing teacher for the year.
fourth grade and fifth grade intervention - I pull a group of six 4th/5th graders. We work on any need I see. Two of mine are beginning English learners, one needs serious math/problematic situations work, and the other three need a second dose of reading/writing all around.
2011-2012

third grade science/social studies - I teach a pull out group of eight EL's. my main focus is to teach the content to half the group that needs serious remediation and the other half that need some intense acceleration.
third grade intervention - I teach a workshop style of math and reading centers to a pull-out group of eight EL's.
It's a lot of students, a lot of needs, but always a lot of learning.

ReplyDeleteI posted twice and then they both got deleted so here are my questions for a third time:
ReplyDeleteAre the students in your second grade groups the same students or different? What about the other grades? How many students to you work with in a day? How long are these blocks?
I teach K-5 ELL in Oregon so I'm curious as to what teaching ELL is like elsewhere.
I'm glad I found your blog. I've been looking for more ELL blogs.
